Read Aloud:
o Close-Reading Quad- Timed reading and annotating of text. This is a critical thinking strategy that will help participants analyze a text and learn vocabulary
o What’s the tea? - Discuss annotations. This discussion activity will provide an opportunity for participants to develop effective communication skills and interpret concepts presented in the text
o Discussion BINGO - Participants will engage in a BINGO style discussion. This discussion activity allows participants to initiate and participate in collaborative discussions.
o Musical Chairs Discussion - This critical thinking and speaking activity will help participants review information and make sense of complex ideas
o Writing Extensions: Argumentative response, Rhetorical analysis, Says/Does Paragraphs, Formal Commentary
o What if I don’t teach English?: Video responses from core subject teachers on how to incorporate these activities with other subjects
